I have spent most of my working life helping people and organisations fulfil their potential, and I am passionate about creating an inclusive work environment which inspires people to give of their best and collaborate effectively.
I have over 10 years' C-suite and board level experience, including chairing a global education business and sitting on a plc board. In my executive roles, I have doubled market share and profitability, turned around failing organisations and led a complex joint venture start-up.
I have specific expertise in customer service and engagement and organisational culture and development. I've worked in a range of sectors including media, creative agency, housing, legal services, outsourcing and education. Prior to setting up my own consultancy and coaching business, I was Managing Director of international exam board, OxfordAQA.
I have a particular interest in promoting equity, diversity and inclusion. In 2012, I established Unlocking Potential, a national mentoring programme for disadvantaged students. In 2015, I set up AQA’s Empowering Women programme, and I co-created Alzheimer's Society's Women in Leadership programme in 2021.
I am an Accredited Executive Coach and Systemic Team Coach (AoEC), an Associate Certified Coach (ICF), and a Certified Fierce Conversations Facilitator. I have been a Leadership Development Facilitator for the Windsor Leadership Trust since 2012, and chair a Windsor working group of cross-sector CEOs.
“To be fully alive,
fully human,
and completely awake
is to be continually
thrown out of the nest.”
This quote by Tibetan Buddhist nun Pema Chödrön to me sums up beautifully a philosophical thread that runs through many belief systems. It is the sense that human beings are always experiencing change and challenges, and so living a fulfilled life is essentially about how we deal with that reality.
My coaching model creates a supportive environment of mutual respect, where the client receives ‘unconditional positive regard’, as defined by Carl Rogers, and their courage and achievements are affirmed and celebrated.
It is underpinned by the belief that the client already has the resources they need to solve their problems or transform an aspect of their lives, and the role of the coach is to help them access these resources, gain new perspectives and deepen their awareness. It is ultimately about a dialogue and skilful challenge that supports exploration, reflection and growth and enables powerful, life-enhancing choices.
